The Mall Alhambra has had a fantastic year in its fundraising efforts for three local charities and has announced the two charities it will be supporting this year.
Over the past year, Mall Cares has been supporting Barnsley Hospice, Barnsley Young Carers and Barnsley Animal Rescue, raising a staggering £3261.21 for each of the three local charities. The money has been raised through numerous fundraising events, including a raffle and sponsored sky dive. The Mall also helped to raise a phenomenal £15,262.22 for other local charities, through collection boxes.
The shopping centre has announced it will be supporting Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Barnsley Animal Rescue in 2008. It is hoping to try and beat the incredible amount raised last year, through the generous shoppers and staff who were such willing participants in 2007.
Mike Lindley, Operations Manager from Yorkshire Air Ambulance is looking forward to working with The Mall.
Mike commented, “To keep Yorkshire’s two air ambulances in the air, we must raise £6900 per day. This is a substantial amount of money and we are so appreciative that The Mall will be helping us to raise this money. Without the continued support and generosity from local people, we would be unable to offer this service.”
Sean Benson, Chair from Barnsley Animal Rescue charity says, “Over the years we have re-homed thousands of different animals, this support from The Mall will hopefully enable us to continue this for many years to come.”
Mark Broadhead, General Manager of The Mall Alhambra added, “At The Mall we work tirelessly to involve the local community and contribute to local community development, we are very eager to start working with Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Barnsley Animal Rescue over the next year and hope to beat the incredible £25,000 raised in 2007.”
