Red and White DaySupport Barnsley Football team in the FA Cup Semi-finals - Saturday 5th April 2008
As every one in town knows, Barnsley FC are playing Cardiff in the FA Cup Semi Finals at Wembley on Sunday, 6 April.
To let everyone see that the town is right behind the team, we are asking all businesses in the town centre to decorate their windows in red and white on Saturday, 5 April!
Retailers, banks, solicitors, building societies, opticians, restaurants, pubs and everyone with a business in the town centre is welcome to take part. A red and white town centre will let the whole country know that Barnsley is backing their club and generate positive publicity for our town centre. Staff and managers can also dress up in appropriate colours or team kit to help create a special atmosphere for this special event.
Nancy Mitchell, Manager of Boots, has offered a prize for the best window display and most colourful premises. She said:
“We all wish the team the very best of luck for their match. They’ve got some amazing results so far and the whole country seems to want them to get to the final. The Football club’s success has also helped to shine a spotlight on the town and it would be great to see town centre businesses supporting the team in any way they can. Good publicity for the football is good for the town as a whole and we can all benefit from it!”
Volunteers from Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber will be out in town on Saturday, 5 April to look for the best dressed windows and most enthusiastic staff.
We hope that you and your staff will want to take part in this event and you have a good days trading on the day.
